Takamitsu Ohta

Takamitsu Ohta is a Japanese contemporary artist who makes the vernacular art works. He uses the material from the exact place and builds own works.

However he also made sound arts. He features sound recordings and cassette loops. Those are also limited source within the place.
His work was released from self-help tapes in 2013. It’s titled  “Guwes / Yzurm” and soon sold out so he released it by himself.

Then in the winter of 2015, he did a sound performance at Osaka. He recorded the field sound from the street in front of the place the day before the show. Additionally recorded the sound from his hand-made machines in front of us.

Each sounds were recorded to each tapes and he placed them on the room randomly, so the original public address system has built in the space. Each sounds were familiar but it got so unique when sounded through tape speakers.

He is also a designer of Tobira records.
You can hear the live sounds from the link below.
